Meet the Bright Futures Chiropractic Team
Meet Christina, Wellness Coach and Clinic Manager

With a long history of headaches, since Christina was eleven years old, regular chiropractic care has been the most effective treatment she has received. “While I was studying at the University of Iowa, my headaches became everyday occurrences. Several people suggested I see a chiropractor, and with a great referral from one of my classmates, I had my first chiropractic adjustment. I began to feel better and my headaches diminished,” Christina remembers. “But I think the most important lessons that I learned was that I have the ability to recognize how my body responds to stress and that there were better choices I could make to keep myself healthy and headache-free.”
Throughout Chris’s chiropractic education, the Griers heard many stories about how chiropractic care changed people’s lives. “And our lives changed too,” says Christina. “Slowly at first, but soon regular chiropractic care, healthy eating, and exercise started to characterize our personal lifestyle. We developed a love for cooking and entertaining, and our reputation for serving tasty, healthy food is well-known among our friends and family. There’s always something new to try!”
With a Masters degree in Social Work, Christina’s education included emphases on community/organization practice and public health. Her professional experience has provided a strong background for her new position with Bright Futures Chiropractic, previously working with the National Marrow Donor Program, American Cancer Society, Iowa Child Health Specialty Clinics, and Arizona Dental Association.
To unwind and relax, Christina enjoys knitting, reading, napping with their two cats, Jerome and Tori, and Sudoku puzzles. “Chris and I love being outdoors, hiking, camping, biking, walking, running…it is a great way to be active, connect with nature, and spend time together.”
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to support and encourage others to make healthy changes in their own lives,” says Christina. “One of my favorite experiences was a hiking trip to the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It was so exhilarating to accomplish that trip, but it wasn’t an easy hike. I think our own health journeys are very similar to a difficult hike – there are challenges to making changes in your life, but with the motivation and support to keep going, the end result is something that you feel really good about.”
Meet Hannah, Chiropractic Assistant
Hannah Swartzentruber brings personal experience to her position with Bright Futures Chiropractic. She describes herself as "one of those skeptics of the chiropractic practice. It seemed as though people who went to a chiropractor were constantly going in for treatments. I didn’t understand why you would have to go to a doctor so many times in one month. Yet, the process intrigued me."
Hannah had been dealing with a lot of lower back pain as well as frequent headaches that had the tendency to make her nauseated and even made it hard to work productively. So after doing a bit of her own research, and inquiring about different chiropractors, she decided to check out Bright Futures Chiropractic.
Dr. Grier’s Exceptional Wellness Class was her first experience at Bright Futures and it gave her a much deeper understanding of how chiropractic care not only helps with aches and pains, but also how caring for the nervous system is essential to achieving exceptional wellness. Hannah described the experience, saying, "I walked in not quite knowing what to expect, and walked out feeling confident that I was in good hands."
It wasn’t long after starting care that her pain diminished and the headaches went away. "I became well educated on how wonderful chiropractic care is for my health and well-being. I grew to know and admire the staff and am now privileged to be a part of the Bright Futures team," she says.
When Hannah is not in the office, she helps as a youth leader at her church and is an integral part of the worship team. When she’s not there, you’ll find her with a piano, or a camera at her fingertips, "I have a love for the arts that flows creatively, mainly through these two forms."
Hannah embraces the mission of Bright Futures Chiropractic, stating, "I firmly believe in keeping one’s mind, body and spirit in a state of wellness. Chiropractic care is one excellent instrument to help attain this."
Her motto: It’s not just a pain reliever; it’s a way of wellness!
Meet Ashley, Chiropractic Assistant
Ashley grew up thinking, like most people that it wasn't that important to monitor what she ate, that it couldn't possibly affect her overall health that much. When it got to the point where Ashley had very low energy and chronic low back pain her mom told her she should give Bright Futures Chiropractic a chance.
At first Ashley wasn't sure how a chiropractic office could help her get back in shape, which she was sure was what she needed to do in order to relieve the pain in her lower back. But after yet another week dealing with her back pain Ashley finally decided to take her mom's advice and check out Bright Futures Chiropractic. After the first visit she knew that it was the place for her. Not only through adjustments did her low back pain drastically improve, but she began to see a major shift in her overall health after just a few visits. The support and encouragement of the whole Bright Futures team did far more to encourage her on her way to weight loss and overall health than any other weight loss plan had even come close to. "Sometimes you have to think out of the box to get results. I never would have thought that a chiropractic office would be the key to starting on my weight loss journey. Becoming a patient at Bright Futures provided me with the tools I needed to get on track for better health, and I received the help I need to start off my weight loss journey. I feel privileged to have become part a team who cares so much about their patients, and who is so passionate about their work." Meet Emily, Care Plan Manager

My name is Emily and I am the newest member of the Bright Futures team. It is a privilege to be a part of the efforts here to educate our community about health and wellness. We are excited to help you achieve your goals and be optimally healthy and well! I grew up in Southeast Iowa and moved to Powell, Tennessee for college. It was while in college that I was introduced to natural health choices through chiropractic care. I had been struggling with headaches and low back pain for quite some time when a friend told me about her chiropractor and encouraged me to go. I am so glad I did! They educated me about my body, my nervous system, and how my headaches and back pain were affecting my life more than I realized. I learned that chiropractic is more than just a profession; it is a way of life. Chiropractors remove the interference in the central nervous system, allowing your body to function and heal at its 100% God given potential. Since being introduced to the chiropractic lifestyle, I now eat healthier, exercise more, and get adjusted regularly. I have more energy than before and rarely get sick. I attribute this overall change in my health to the chiropractic care I receive. When not at the office, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, reading books, and sharing my passion for chiropractic with others. “Life is not merely to be alive, but to be well.” ~Marcus Valerius Martial
